Generally, weddings have something special and/or unique about them. Oftentimes, this unique element involves food or drink. Some have s'mores stations. Some have candy tables. Some turn the entire meal into an event, e.g. potlucks, buffet-style serving stations, etc.
Mike and I have always joked --somewhat seriously-- that we would have a burrito making station. Unfortunately, it looks like something like that would be a logistical nightmare, depending on the venue. It would also be outrageously expensive to provide materials for 100 (0r more) people. Perhaps this could be implemented during the rehearsal dinner instead.
But this still leaves us without any "food flair" on the big day. At present, my only two ideas are:
1. An ice cream bar. I have a well-documented love affair with ice cream. Unfortunately, this would be more for me than it would be for Mike and I as a couple. Mike isn't as obsessed with ice cream as I am.
2. A candy bar. I hesitate with this one because my bestie used this for her wedding. BUT, Mike ADORES candy. If he could live off of candy he would.
Perhaps we could combine both ideas. An ice cream bar...with a prominent "toppings" section. People put gummy worms on ice cream, right?

Dude I am all for the smores bar - I think you need to do that (pending your venue allows open flames).
ReplyDeleteOtherwise - ice cream bar sounds amazing, AND you could have candy to top your ice cream. I bet you an ice cream bar is cheaper than a candy buffet too!
Or do what I did - and borrow whatever vases I still have remaining :) It'll be a year later, and really, only like a few people will know it came from mine!
Um, hell yes to gummi worms on ice cream. I wonder what the logistics of keeping ice cream cold would be? Similar to the logistics of keeping burrito ingredients hot? I have no idea.
ReplyDeletei keep wondering about the 'keeping ice cream frozen' bit too. I'm sure it can be done.
ReplyDeleteall of the above options sounds super delicious. i think a burrito bar would be a fun rehearsal dinner- smaller group and still very 'you & mike'
